Consolidated Contractors Company trains staff to identify corruption, enforcing zero-tolerance on unethical behaviours

  • Consolidated Contractors Company says a zero-tolerance approach to corruption and bribery in international business is non-negotiable internally and externally to the workplace
  • CCC invests significantly in a global e-learning program to train 6000+ global employees on ethics and anti-corruption policies
  • CCC is a proud and active member of the World Economic Forum’s PACI (Partnering Against Corruption Initiative

Consolidated Contractors Company is training thousands of its global employees in identifying bribery and unethical behaviours, as part of enforcing its zero-tolerance policy to corruption in international business.

The global construction giant, member of the World Economic Forum’s PACI (Partnering Against Corruption Initiative), said addressing corruption was the responsibility of international businesses and the entire workforce – a founding principle of the PACI.

CCC’s President of Engineering & Construction, Mr Samer Khoury, said training their employees, particularly in high-risk countries, to identify corruption was a critical investment for the industry.

“CCC is such a large company – we have more than 182,000 employees currently engaged in 56 ongoing projects globally,” Mr Khoury said.

“It is our core responsibility to ensure all of our employees are trained in honesty, transparency and loyalty – we count on all of our employees to help us identify and address any unethical behaviours in the workplace.

“There are significant corruption risks in the construction industry, and in the countries we operate – we have adopted zero-tolerance to any conspiracy, bribery, conflict of interest, fraud or abuse of authority in our workplace.

“Our e-learning program, proudly launched with Idox Compliance, has an impressive completion rate of 90 per cent among targeted employees globally – they are proud to be learning about our anti-bribery and anti-corruption policies, and implementing them with enthusiasm.

“We want to make our staff aware of potentially dangerous situations and help them make the right decisions for both their sake, and that of CCC.

“Our staff are thankful for the opportunity to identify specific scenarios that may place them at risk, and to have solid guidance on how to act in the case of any unethical behaviour risks internally or externally.

“Fighting corruption, bribery and unethical behaviour in business has to extend to training relevant employees – staff on the ground can identify and help eliminate potential risks for companies.”

Key Account Manager at Idox Compliance, Carsten Gerz, said, “We are delighted to be supporting CCC in its efforts to promote ethical behaviour and safeguard against corruption across the business. With this approach, we believe we can help protect CCC’s values, reputation and competitive position, as we do with many other clients of all sizes, across all industry sectors. Our proven experience in tailoring programme content to match client needs has once again resulted in a project delivered on time, budget and quality.”

The Commitment Towards Anti-Corruption is one of CCC’s 17 Core Values and Guiding Principles. In the Code of Practice, CCC includes its anti-corruption declaration, demonstrating its commitment to eliminate corruption from global business.

CCC’s Commitment also extends to third-parties – with every agent, consultant representative and any other third party required to comply with the applicable anti-corruption laws of the country in which they operate.
